GKIDS released the official English movie trailer for Studio Ghibli’s The Boy and the Heron, Hayao Miyazaki’s first feature film in 10 years. The film follows a young boy named Mahito who misses his dead mother. He finds himself in a world shared by the living and the dead. Once there, he gains new insight into death, life, and friendship.
This movie features hand-drawn artwork, a staple of Studio Ghibli, and is an original, semi-autobiographical project by Miyazaki. The film’s musical score has been composed by Joe Hisaishi, and the theme song “Spinning Globe” is penned and performed by J-pop superstar Kenshi Yonezu. Recently, Yonezu recently wrote the theme song “Moongazing” for Final Fantasy XVI.
