New key visuals for the Gintama 20th Anniversary Project, Gintama Sound Ultra Soul ‘24 are now live. There is also a site dedicated to it. The site opened on October 10, 2023, which also happens to be the birthday of the main protagonist, Gintoki Sakata. [Thanks, Comic Natalie!]
The key visual for the Gintama 20th Anniversary Project features Gintoki, Kagura, Shinpachi, and Sadaharu flying through space. Gintoki’s on his beloved scooter, while Kagura is riding Sadaharu with her signature parasol in hand. As per usual, Shinpachi is kind of the butt of the joke, as it looks like he fell off the back of Gintoki’s scooter and no one cares. There is also a new key visual for the live concert. It features the Yorozuya trio, the Shinsengumi trio, Katsura, and Takasugi wearing the concert’s T-shirts.
Gintama Sound Ultra Soul ‘24 will take place on February 11, 2024. It is a live concert for people to listen to music from the Gintama series. There will be an afternoon show that’ll start at 4 PM and an evening one that’ll start at 7:00 PM. Tickets cost 8800 JPY for a normal one and 11,500 JPY for a reserved one. The reserved ticket also comes with a pen light. So far, the only band confirmed to be at Gintama Sound Ultra Soul ‘24 is Audio Highs, which worked on the show’s OST.
Gintama is readily available on streaming services such as Crunchyroll. 3-Nen Z-Gumi Ginpachi-sensei, which is a new anime based on the modern AU spin-off, will come out in the future. There will also be a theatrical adaptation of the Baragaki arc that will appear in Japanese theaters from November 10, 2023.
