Gigantamax Drednaw and Sandaconda Appearing More Often in Pokemon Sword and Shield Raids

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Another Pokemon Sword and Shield Max Raid event is in effect in the Wild Area, shifting around the creatures youā€™ll be seeing in dens. This time, it is a return to something a little more typical. Following a brief Pikachu family reunion, Gigantamax Drednaw and Sandaconda are ushering in a group of ground and water-type characters.

This new Pokemon Sword and Shield Max Raid event will hang around until 5pm PT on August 30, 2020/2am CET on August 31, 2020. In addition to those specific Gigantamax forms of Drednaw and Sandaconda, a number of more ordinary ground and water-type Pokemon will appear. As pointed out by Serebii on its event page, people can also expect to see Chewtle, Feebas, Gastrodon, Hippopotas, Hippowdon, Milotic, Quagsire, Shellos, Silicobra, and Wooper.

This also means weā€™ve seen two water-related Max Raid events in a relatively short amount of time. Prior to the Pikachu line event, there was a more standard water-type Max Raid event. While Drednaw wasnā€™t showing up back then, people did have a better chance of encountering (and catching) a shiny Wailord.

Pokemon Sword and Shield is available for the Nintendo Switch. Also, all seven episodes of the Pokemon Twilight Wings series inspired by the games are available online.
