Namco Bandai is doing everything in their power to make Family Jockey a zany game instead of a horse racing simulator. You don’t even have to ride a horse! Zebras, Lions, Giraffes and Unicorns are viable options during four player races. No matter what animal you choose the Wii remote/nunchuck combination represents binding reigns. Similar to Mario Kart tracks are packed with items like speed boosting milk cartons and horseshoes. Not all of the items are friendly, the tarai bumps rival players on their head and freezes them in place for a few seconds.
While races between unicorns and lions are exhilarating, the Pac-Man Battle mode is the feature that caught my attention. In this game mode four players try to out run a giant Pac-Man from rolling them over. Namco Bandai plans to release Family Jockey on March 6, before Mario Kart Wii makes its debut in Japan. Will anyone considering Family Jockey and its Escape from a Pac-Attack mode over Mario Kart?
