Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection Will Have Replayable Stages

The interview mostly focused on the game’s features. In the early zones, players will be able to choose either the Ghosts ‘n Goblins-based stage or the Ghouls ‘n Ghosts-inspired stage in order to move to the next zone.

Here are some highlighted quotes from Famitsu‘s Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection interview:

  • In the beginning, each zone will be split into two stages (Ghosts ‘n Goblins-styled or Ghouls ‘n Ghosts-styled)
  • It has plenty of replay value; you can always return to a previous stage (with a strengthened character)
  • We also added checkpoints in order to adjust the difficulty for newcomers.
  • The highest difficulty will sting so much it will make you remember the original Ghosts ‘n Goblins released back then.

The developers confirmed that players can revisit cleared stages with unlocked abilities at any time without having to start a new playthrough. The team also explained how they adjusted the difficulty levels that can be enjoyed by people of all skill levels, from newcomers to veterans alike.

Originally revealed at The Game Awards 2020, Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection is a reboot of Capcom’s classic side-scrolling platformer first released on arcades in 1985. This reboot also contains elements from the 1988 sequel Ghouls ‘n Ghosts with modern visuals that combine 2D graphics with 3D models.

Capcom will release Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection for Nintendo Switch simultaneously worldwide on February 25, 2021.
