Agarest: Generations of War is getting premium pack treatment in Europe. Ghostlight, the same company that published Digital Devil Saga in the UK, plans to release a standard retail version and a collector’s edition. (Thanks for the tip Sambuque and Chris!!)
Extra items in the collector’s edition include postcards, an art book, and “other exclusive items” Ghostlight isn’t telling us about. The collector’s edition will only get a single print in Europe so interested parties will want to reserve this before it comes out in September.
Ghostlight’s press release states Agarest: Generations of War “will not see any alteration from the original code in any way,” with the exception of being in English, I presume.
We first reported Midas Interactive was publishing Agarest. Did the game switch publishers? Is this a good sign for a domestic release? Unfortunately, no. Midas Interactive and Ghostlight are both owned by Majesty House.
Their parent holding company also owns a localization studio called Laughing Jackal, which is handling localization work too. Unless a company like Ignition or UFO Interactive, two domestic publishers that picked up European localized games for North America, Agarest: Generations of War is going to stay in Europe.
