Here’s the announcement tweet from Arc System Works:

GGPO is middleware that uses rollback networking. To give you a basic idea of how it works, instead of waiting for the players’ inputs, GGPO does its best to predict and simulate the next moves so that when it happens, it happens without any delay. If the player doesn’t input the actions as expected, it rolls back to the previous state by revising it to the current frame. Thus the term “rollback.”

Arc System Works will share more details for the rollback network implementation coming to Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R and its public testing at a later date. For more technical details, check out an earlier progress report from the creators below:

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R is currently available for the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Arc System Works also released the game for arcades in Japan and worldwide for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and Xbox 360.
