A few weeks ago, we reported that MonkeyPaw were developing an HD version of arcade classic, BurgerTime, for PC, WiiWare, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. The same week, Spencer got to try the game out at GDC, finding it to be a proper “2.5D” remake of the original BurgerTime.
Now, MonkeyPaw have finally officially announced the game and released more information on what one can expect from it…and it’s quite the mouthful.
“We’ve kept the burger-making mechanic but placed the action into a Rotary Environmental System, allowing cylindrical 3D levels to rotate around a center axis and the player to build burgers around the circumference,” says John Greiner, president of MonkeyPaw Games. Look at the trailer above to see what he means.
BurgerTime HD comes with 40 levels and 4 bosses. The game will include four-player local and online play with an “intense competitive element.” Developer, Frozen Codebase, and MonkeyPaw are also preparing DLC for the game.
MonkeyPaw have BurgerTime HD slated for release this summer, and while a price hasn’t “officially” been announced, they expect it to cost $9.99 upon release. In the meantime, here are screenshots of the different console versions:
