Get the FFVII Rebirth Morph and Steal Material ASAP

Finding ways to get extra items or equipment, especially for free, is a boon in Final Fantasy games. As such, you’ll want to make sure you figure out where and how to pick up the FFVII Rebirth Morph and Steal Materia orbs as soon as possible. Fortunately, Square Enix doesn’t withhold either one.

Where do I find Morph Materia in FFVII Rebirth?

Morph can’t be acquired until you get into Chapter 2 of FFVII Rebirth. After you meet Chadley for the first time at Bill’s Chocobo ranch, you’ll learn about how completing Chadley’s World Intel quests in each region earns you Data Points you can put toward Materia. Fortunately, it isn’t expensive. After reuniting with the character and lighting up your first tower, you’ll have enough to buy it. It costs 10 Data Points.

Now, the trick about Morph Materia in FFVII Rebirth is that an enemy’s health needs to be low before you can use it. This can be pretty difficult, considering you have AI allies. I often found that my almost-constant-companion Barret would suddenly kill it. So you need to be careful.

Where do I find Steal Materia in FFVII Rebirth?

Getting a Steal Materia is incredibly easy. As you travel around the world, you’ll eventually find vending machines at notable spots. For example, Chocobo ranches will have them, and you’ll see them as respite points in dungeons. The Steal Material will be in there for 500 gil. I was saving up for Queen’s Blood cards and other Materia, so I ended up grabbing mine from the Chapter 3 mines vending machine ahead of the fight against the Turks. (Rude is holding a Mega-Potion you can snatch off of him.)

Unlike Morph, Steal can work even if a foe is extremely healthy. I recommend using Assess first on an enemy or boss to see what they might be holding. Then, use that to determine if it’s worth trying to steal their item away.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is available on the PS5, with the exclusivity arrangement ending on May 29, 2024.
