Evangelion Battlefields is a 3D, real-time action combat game that pits EVA against EVA. Players can manipulate their unit in-game by using Tomy Art’s controller and the figures. Here’s a look at how the gameplay will flow when you use the controller, along with a peek at the game overall:

The controller is priced at ¥4,980 (roughly $47) and comes in two different EVA units: the yellow and white EVA Unit 00 and the purple Unit 01. Players can connect the controller to their smartphones via Bluetooth, which will allow them to control the in-game EVA in many different ways. Interestingly, the controller also works a lot like a computer mouse; there are buttons for inputting in battle commands, making it easy to play with only one hand. Even better, players can even move the controller to guide the EVA around the battlefield.

The figures will be priced at ¥750 (roughly $7) each. Some notable figures include Shinji, Asuka, Rei, and Misato Katsuragi. However, there will also be original characters from the mobile game, too. There will be a total of twelve figures in the first season. Also, it appears that they will be sold in blind boxes, which means players will have to take a chance when trying to collect all twelve.

The figures can be activated and used by placing them on the EVA’s shoulders. An id-chip inside the figure’s base will activate, producing an effect in game. Each character figure has different effects and can function as either a “pilot” or as “support.” Part of the fun will be playing around and figuring out the best timing to use your figures.

Furthermore, the game’s first season debuts in just a few weeks. Season One will cost ¥740 (roughly $6.99). Currently, there’s no information available concerning future seasons and their possible prices.

Evangelion Battlefields will be released for Android and Apple iOS on March 26, 2020. You can stay up-to-date by checking out Evangelion Battlefields‘ official Twitter account or the official website.
