Square Enix recently shared further details on “Frontline,” and upcoming PvP multiplayer mode in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn that will allow for up to 72 players across three teams.
Frontline mode involves players defending outposts established by their Grand Companies, keeping them safe from the opposition. Points are awarded for occupying locations of interest and for defeating opposing players as well as monsters.
Rewards in Frontline mode will depend on your achievements. The most basic reward is PvP EXP, which will increase your PvP rank, giving you the ability to enhance your actions and traits. In addition to this, you also get Wolf Marks for winning PvP battles. These can be exchanged for gear and other items at the Wolves’ Den.
Finally, claiming victory a certain number of times in Frontline mode will see you rewarded with a new achievement and the “Warsteed” mount you see above.
In case you missed our early report on Patch 2.3, which will add Frontline mode and other new features to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, you can read it here.
