Japanese dairy and sweets company Morinaga Milk will be producing a limited-time Pino Neon Genesis Evangelion ice cream crossover. This is a collaboration designed to drum up excitement for the upcoming movie Shin Evangelion Gekijoban, aka Evangelion: 3.0+1.0, which is set to release on June 27, 2020. [Thanks, Game Watch!]
Pino is a popular ice cream product in Japan. You can easily find it in convenience stores all across the country. Usually, Pino costs around ¥140 (~$1.30) per box and comes in a set of six chocolate covered dollops of vanilla ice cream. However, chocolate and vanilla aren’t the only flavors available. In fact, Pino’s had lots of other flavors, including caramel, tiramisu, Kyoto Uji matcha, and a variety of fruit flavors.
Additionally, Pino always comes with a plastic pick, making it easy to eat without making it melt from the heat of your hands. Suitably, the pick inside these limited edition Evangelion ice cream packages will be replicas of the A.T. Field piercing Spear of Longinus. There will also be a more typical pick with an Eva design on the grip.
Three different package designs will be available. Here’s a look at Morinaga’s Evangelion ice cream:
This is not Neon Genesis Evangelion‘s only collaboration in 2020. There will be a Honda Civic collaboration.
Morinaga’s Pino Evangelion ice cream is set to retail for ¥140 (~$1.30) starting on April 6, 2020 at convenience stores all across Japan.
