Genshin Impact is one of those games that is constantly growing and evolving. Which means to keep people involved, miHoYo runs events that offer opportunities to earn in-game rewards, experience new stories, and earn the Primogems, the in-game currency. The Genshin Impact While It’s Warm event is even running right now. However, it’s can be one of the more annoying experiences in the game, largely due to outside interference.
To understand why, you first have to get what While It’s Warm involves. There are normal side quests in the game where the Traveler has to pick up some food at a restaurant and deliver it to a person in the world. This normally involves a time limit and gives you a general idea of where the person is, forcing you to quickly run or glide from the establishment to the customer. This event builds on that by having three deliveries available each day. You stop by Mondstadt’s Good Hunter, Liyue’s Wangshu Inn, and Liyue’s Wanmin Restaurant. Each one will have a delivery. Completing all three gets you 60 Primogems.
What makes it all frustrating is how the Genshin Impact While It’s Warm quests build in difficulty and that some of the more difficult challenges can repeat. Things started out very simply. For example, one of the day one quests involved taking Mondstadt Hash Browns from Good Hunter to Silio, who was hanging around at Stormbearer Point. The restrictions for that delivery kept you from dashing, gliding, or take any damage while heading to Silio. Fast traveling was allowed, there was a Statue of the Seven near the location, and the one enemy groups I saw around there was easy to avoid, so it wasn’t too difficult to get it to him before time ran out.
Now, to compare, I had another Mondstadt Hash Browns delivery for Silio on December 15, 2020. Except the delivery that day was timed, had the “no damage” rule, and had a restriction that meant contact with any element would result in an instant failure. Silio was hanging out near the Dawn Winery this time, on that area of land below it surrounded by… you guessed it… water. That’s also an area with more enemies. Since you have to be careful, it can be tempting to climb to avoid any water or foes. But then, you also have to watch your stamina gauge to make sure you don’t run out while climbing or running and take fall damage.
Granted, it is a silly thing to even get frustrated about. After all, the return for the quests is very good. Normally, you have to do four daily commissions to earn 60 Primogems. While It’s Warm only involves three deliveries that might not involve too much traveling, if you’ve been diligent about unlocking fast travel points. Also, with many of these quests having one to two minute time limits, they take up barely any time.
It’s more that the unknown elements might get to you as you go through it. You might be doing fine, then encounter a weather system that gets you “wet” or end up targeted by an enemy you didn’t notice, and then you have to start it all over again. Which can leave you a little annoyed, since what happened isn’t your fault. Still, the good things about Genshin Impact’s While It’s Warm (and other events) are that it is short and does have a pretty hefty incentive. Which means even if it does start to get to you, it won’t be long until it’s over and done. In the meantime, it does help you appreciate how hazardous its world can be.
Genshin Impact is available for the PlayStation 4, PC, and both Android and Apple iOS devices. A Nintendo Switch version is also in development. The Genshin Impact While It’s Warm event will run until December 18, 2020.
