Genshin Impact Updates Will No Longer Be Announced on Twitter

HoYoVerse announced that it will no longer announce in-game Genshin Impact events on X (formerly Twitter). Instead, it will only post these announcements on its official HoYoLab channels. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

Events in Genshin Impact do not only include flagship events or recurring ones. This may also include information on banners and such. While HoYoVerse did not mention why it will move its updates for Genshin Impact off X and onto HoYoLab, this may have something to do with the amount of changes that Elon Musk has brought to the platform. Changes have included raising prices (which locked some companies and services out of API access) and AI training. In response to these and other changes, many users have left X for other social media platforms, such as Bluesky.

So far, only the Genshin Impact account announced that it will move to HoYoLab. The official X accounts for Honkai: Star Rail and Honkai Impact 3rd, for example, have been Tweeting normally. Time will tell if you’ll have to receive all news for HoYoVerse games via HoYoLab.

Genshin Impact is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. Xbox versions will come out on November 20, 2024, which is the same date that Version 5.2 will go live.
