Genshin Impact KFC Anime Ad Stars Young Colonel Sanders

In Japan, a KFC Genshin Impact event is about to start, and HoYoVerse and the restaurant released a new anime style ad starring young Colonel Sanders and featuring a song from FLOW. It’s designed to build up hype ahead of the promotion’s start on October 2, 2024.

The video is set in what appears to be a futuristic and realistic world, rather than Teyvat. However, as the young version of Colonel Sanders prepares for the day, we see Genshin Impact merchandise and elements. So his phone has a background from the game and Paimon (in KFC apron) charm on it. He puts on a track that looks like the game, we see Klee’s Dodoco toy, and the Natlan Lil’ Buddy is there. After he dresses and makes his way to work, we see him use a glider and the Sumeru parkour methods to get around the city. When he finally reaches the restaurant, there’s a Paimon decoration out front and the front sign says “KFC Genshin.”

Here’s the full Genshin Impact anime ad released for the upcoming promotion.

The website for this event is live. This time around, the focus characters are Lyney and Lynette in themed costumes. People can get a glider skin and recipes to use in-game.

This isn’t the first Genshin Impact KFC event. A prior one appeared in 2021. That featured Diluc and Noelle as featured characters. People were able to get a glider skin and recipes from it too. Those eventually appeared worldwide as well, though we didn’t need to go to the fast food place for them when that happened.

Another tie-in happened in the US in September 2024 too. McDonald’s featured a special glider skin and recipe items to collect. Beidou and Kazuha were the featured characters when that happened.

Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices. The Xbox Series X version arrives on November 20, 2024. The Japanese KFC event begins on October 2, 2024.
