This holiday season, it seems like miHoYo’s gift to players is going to be a big update with lots of new characters and things to do. Genshin Impact 1.2 will arrive on December 23, 2020. Instead of heading to Inazuma right away, instead we’ll be going to Dragonspine. Along the way, we’ll also meet Genshin Impact’s Albedo and Ganyu, the two new five-star characters.

Since Dragonspine is going to be a frigid area, Genshin Impact is going to bring in another element people might remember from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. You’ll have to watch out for your characters’ body temperatures. There will be a Sheer Cold bar that lets you know if they’re getting too cold while going through the mountains, looking for new items, equipment, enemies, and adventures.

Speaking of adventures, two we’ll see in the 1.2 update were confirmed. “The Chalk Prince and the Dragon” will be the new major quest. Another will involve Genshin Impact’s Albedo in a key role and be a seasonal event. The Knights of Favonius’ Chief Alchemist is going to have you look into Festering Desire with him. (That’s a sort of unusual sword, which you’ll get to keep as part of the questline.) As for the final revealed story, you can learn more about Genshin Impact’s Ganyu, a half-adeptus Liyue Qixing emissary, in a side quest.

Here’s a new trailer going over Genshin Impact’s “The Chalk Prince and the Dragon,” which also prominently features Albedo and Ganyu. As another Knights of Favonius researcher, Sucrose also shows up quite often!

Genshin Impact is available for the PlayStation 4, PC, and both Android and Apple iOS devices. It will come to the Nintendo Switch eventually as well. The Genshin Impact 1.2 update will arrive on December 23, 2020 and bring a new banner with it.
