Niantic revealed its Pokemon GO Halloween plans for this year, and things will all kick off this week. Starting on October 23, 2020, people will have a chance to get new versions of Gengar and Sableye or participate in Research Tasks to find Galarian Yamask and Spiritomb. Double Catch Candy and Transfer Candy bonuses will be in effect too.

As usual, the focus Pokemon all can be acquired in different ways during the event. Sableyes wearing Litwick hats will be in eggs and normal encounters. Gengars with Frankenstein-like appearances will show up as Raid bosses. (So will Darkrai.) Galarian Yamask will show up and have Special Research connected to it. The Field Research Tasks will offer standard (and sometimes shiny) Spiritomb. Gengar Mega Energy will be available too.

In addition to Pokemon dressing up, players can too. The Style Shop will six new items in it. One is a Spooky Pose. The other are new cosmetics like the Bannette Mask, Gengar Onesie, Pikachu Mask, Sableye Goggles, and Sableye Mask.

A few special events will also appear on certain days:

  • October 25, 2020: Catch Mastery: Ghost Day will make ghost-types appear more often.
  • October 26-November 3, 2020: GO Battle League Halloween Cup will run for bug/dark/fairy/ghost/poison types with less than 1,500 CP and involve the Halloween 2019 Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle encounters occasionally.
  • October 31, 2020: Alolan Marowak Raid Day

Pokemon GO is available for Android and Apple iOS devices. The Pokemon GO Halloween 2020 events will run between October 23 to November 3, 2020.
