Gate of Nightmares Trial Period to Begin in Early July

Square Enix has announced that it will begin accepting applications for the Gate of Nightmares trial period. Five thousand applicants will be picked from the pool of applicants to get a firsthand look at the upcoming mobile game. The application period is currently open and will remain open until June 25, 2021. The trial period of Gate of Nightmares will begin on July 1 and last until July 12, 2021. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

Those who wish to participate in the trial period will need to have a Square Enix ID. Registration for the trial, and for a Square Enix ID, is free of charge. Additionally, if more than five thousand people apply for the trial period, applicants will be picked through a lottery system. Those interested in participating in the trial period must also be located in Japan.

Gate of Nightmares is a new mobile title currently in development under Square Enix. Fairy Tail series creator Hiro Mashima is working alongside the developer and publisher to create this new title. Additionally, Jin Fujisawa and Yasuharu Takanashi are working on the project. This RPG will blend more traditional fantasy elements with the “real world.”

Previously, Square Enix shared screenshots and character artwork of several key characters. This included a look at how some skills will appear in the game.

Gate of Nightmares is currently in development for Android and iOS, with a trial period beginning on July 1, 2021 in Japan.
