Gabrielle’s Ghostly Groove is a new Natsume I.P. that’s scheduled for release this year. A girl named Gabrielle manages to sneeze her soul right out of her body, and it’s up to you to reclaim it in a locale named Monster Town.
We know Ghostly Groove is a rhythm game developed in collaboration with Santa Entertainment. But who exactly is working on the game? According to Natsume’s vice-president of operations, Graham Markay, the division of Santa working on the project consists of a bunch of ex-Cave developers.
“It’s the Cave people that worked on Princess Debut and then they went over to Santa and they did Cheer We Go,” Graham told Siliconera. “And now, they’re doing Gabrielle’s Ghostly Groove.”
Graham describes his initial impression of Ghostly Groove upon seeing the design document as a family-friendly rhythm game. Once he saw the a work-in-progress build, he compared it to Monsters Inc.
“I had an idea it would probably be a dance-rhythm game, but it’s just the overall premise of it. It’s kind of like Monsters Inc. — she sneezes, she loses her soul. She has to go out and collect screams, so she can turn back into human form again. And so it’s done in a kind of cute and and family-friendly way.”
