FunimationCon 2020 is underway, and of course one of the first events was a panel from the company itself. During an industry panel, Funimation and some partners doled out news featuring all kinds of anime announcements, with a particular focus on expanding its streaming service. While there’s a lot of news, the biggest story appears to be the first 220 episodes of Naruto, the whole series before the title-changing time skip, is coming under the Funimation banner on July 6, 2020. In addition to Funimation Naruto streaming, new episodes of the One Piece dub, new seasons of current anime, and more are on the way.
For Demon Slayer fans, Aniplex announced that in partnership with Funimation Films, Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train will be coming to theaters in North America. The very first home release of Demon Slayer, the “Part One Standard Edition” Blu-ray, is also now available for preorder straight from Funimation on its online shop.
For fans outside of the United States, Funimation also announced it will be expanding its service to Mrazil and Mexico later this year. Along with that expansion, “select series” will be available in both dubbed and subbed formats, in Spanish and Portugese.
FunimationCon 2020 is a two day “virtual anime convention” event, running from July 3 to 4, 2020.
