Bandai Namco announced it is bringing back the Vita game Freedom Wars, this time as Freedom Wars Remastered for the Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC. It will arrive over 10 years after the original’s anniversary, as the game launches on January 10, 2025.
In the original game, you could play alone or with up to eight people. The main campaign is set in a futuristic, dystopian version of Earth. Due to how society collapsed, the scarcity of resources, and the fact that everyone lives underground in Panopticons, people are deemed criminals for being born or accused of the smallest crimes. Said criminals need to face Abductors to keep them from kidnapping people and fight in wars. In the campaign, you learn about the world’s lore and uncover secrets about the world above. In multiplayer, you can work with or against other players.
Bandai Namco also shared what to expect from the remaster of Freedom Wars. As usual, it will look better than the original game. This means it will be up to 4k, provided the platform can support it. It will also run at 60 FPS. Playing will feel different as well, due to rebalancing. There are also unspecified “updates” to crafting.
