Free Grand Theft Auto V Giveaway Results in Epic Games Store Crashes

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

One of the Epic Games Store features involves doling out free games to visitors on a weekly basis. It has since gone on to become a regular thing, with special events sometimes even speeding things up and giving out more than usual. However, demand for the latest one has broken things. Free Grand Theft Auto V copies are being given away, and it has brought the store to a halt as a result.

The official Epic Games Store Twitter account confirmed Epic Games is very aware of this obvious issues. Those attempting to access it via the official website or launcher could experience a 500 error with the “An unexpected error has occurred” message. In some cases, trying to reach the browser version might even take you to one in a different language. Those who open up the program could see it completely crash.

According to people who have been able to get to the site and access it, the free Grand Theft Auto V copy is the Premium Edition of the game. This means people have the Grand Theft Auto Online Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack. This gives people GTA$1,000,000, six properties that include an apartment, a car garage, an executive office, a bunker, a clubhouse, and a counterfeit cash factory, 10 vehicles, three weapons, some outfits, and biker tattoos.

Grand Theft Auto V is available on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. Epic Games noted it will provide an update on the store’s status as soon as it can.
