Ahead of Chocobo GP, the new Switch racing installment starring the famous Final Fantasy bird, Square Enix released a mobile action game also called Chocobo GP’. The only difference is the quotation mark after the name and the way it is played.
While the Switch entry is a straightforward, competitive racing title, the mobile entry is more about balancing. It uses only two virtual buttons. One moves the Chocobo, who has a Moogle named Alta perched on their back, forward. The other moves them back. You need to get from one end of the level to the other as quickly as possible, collecting treasure along the way. There will eventually be jumps and hazards as you do. When you encounter these, you need to position the Chocobo just so with the two buttons to ensure they land safely.
There are some customization elements. As you play, you can adjust the Chocobo’s stats. You also can attempt to get better times or high scores. It is uncertain if the mobile game will connect to the Switch installment to unlock anything yet.
Here are some screenshots of the title.
