Square Enix and Luminous Productions announced Forspoken is delayed and its release date will now fall in October 2022. Originally, the PS5 and PC game was supposed to appear on May 24, 2022. However, it now will appear on October 11, 2022.
Here is Luminous Productions’ full statement regarding the new Forspoken delay. It cited a desire to maintain its quality as the reason for it being pushed back.
We have made the decision to move the release date of Forspoken to October 11, 2022. Our vision for this exciting new IP is to deliver a game world and hero that gamers across the globe will want to experience for years to come, so getting it right is extremely important to us. To that end, during the next few months we will focus all of our efforts on polishing the game and can’t wait for you to experience Frey’s journey this fall.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to sharing more about Forspoken with you soon.
The announcement didn’t note if this means the In Tanta We Trust prequel Forspoken DLC will also be delayed. That will follow events before Frey finds herself transported to a new world. The character Tanta will feature prominently in it. Back when the May 2022 release date was announced, it had a Winter 2022 release window.
The new Forspoken release date is October 11, 2022 following the delay. It will show up on the PS5 and PC worldwide.
