The Pokémon Company has been trying to involve itself with the ongoing 2014 World Cup in a variety of ways. Earlier in the year, it announced a tie-up with Adidas for Pokémon-themed jerseys to support the home team in Japan. More recently, it announced a collaboration with football player Atsuto Uchida.

Last week, The Pokémon Company announced that Uchida, who is a defender on the Japanese national team and plays for Germany’s FC Schalke 04 team, will voice a supporting character in the next Pokémon movie, Pokémon the Movie XY: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction.

In the Japanese version of the movie, Uchida will play a bellboy at a hotel based on his likeness. The bellboy is named “Usshii,” which is Uchida’s real-life nickname, given to him by his teammates in Germany.

Pokémon the Movie XY: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction will release in Japanese theatres on July 19th. Fans that attend the screenings will get a special Diancie for use in the Pokémon RPGs, while those that book tickets in advance will also get a Darkrai.
