As a reminder, Foamstars is a team-based shooter like Splatoon or Overwatch. However, players are using foam to fill the arena and defeat opponents, as first seen during the September 2023 open beta. Happy Bath Survival, Rubber Duck Party, and Smash the Star 4v4 modes will all appear at launch. For those who want to play more cooperatively or alone, there will be the single-player Foamstar Mission or four-player Squad Mission. By going through these modes, people can complete Anytime, Limited-Time, and Weekly challenges to earn new characters and features. Specifically, Square Enix pointed to The Baristador as one of these rewards.

Accompany the release announcement was also the confirmation of a Premium Season Pass, periodic seasonal updates, and a new trailer. Mel T will be the first season pass character, with people who don’t pay needing to earn the new person and those who do getting access right away.

Here’s the latest Foamstars release date trailer. It focuses on gameplay initially, showing how to build up foam, before then naming some of the launch modes and showing cosmetics for characters.

Foamstars will appear on the PS4 and PS5 on February 6, 2024, which is also the date of its PlayStation Plus debut.
