Fire Emblem Heroes, Nintendo’s long-running mobile game, now has a player-vs.-player mode. Dubbed Summoner Duels, the Fire Emblem Heroes PVP mode will offer multiple options for playing both friends and random opponents. In addition, Nintendo revealed the setting and new protagonist for the FEH Book VI story.
Summoner Duels will debut on December 7, 2021 at 2am ET. The new mode, part of the game’s Coliseum, offers five-on-five battles. Matches last five turns, with time limits for each phase and a score system to determine the winner. The mode will offer in-game rewards to players.
The variants of the mode include Favor Battles, Free Duels and Practice Duels. Favor Battles is the primary mode, and offers rewards based on your performance. Free Duels lets you battle a friend by sharing a password, and Practice Duels lets you battle the AI.

The story of Fire Emblem Heroes Book VI will focus on Veronica, the princess of Embla. Veronica has appeared in a minor capacity over the years, but has been out of the spotlight since her turn as Book I’s primary antagonist. A new home screen castle theme based on Embla will be added to the game in the Book VI update.
The new protagonist of FEH Book VI, Ash, is a retainer to the Divine Dragon Askr. The home of the Order of Heroes, the kingdom of Askr is named after the dragon. Like previous heroes Fjorm, Eir, Peony, and Reginn, Ash will join your team after you complete the first chapter of her story.

Fire Emblem Heroes is available now on iOS and Android devices. Apple device users will need to update to iOS 13.0 or later to play the game as of the Book VI update. The Fire Emblem Heroes PVP mode, Summoner Duels, debuts on December 7, 2021.
