Final Fantasy X|X-2 Join Xbox Game Pass

Finally, Microsoft announced the Xbox Game Pass library is adding an additional older Final Fantasy games — FFX | X-2 HD Remaster. It will show up on both consoles and PCs on May 13, 2021. Its inclusion means only the FFXIII entries are absent. However, FFIX will leave Xbox Game Pass on May 15, 2021.

Microsoft revealed the Xbox Game Pass Final Fantasy initiative back at X019. At the time, it announced 10 games would be added to the service. Many started to roll out in 2020, but games like FFX | X-2 HD Remaster, FFXII: The Zodiac Age, FFXIII, FFXIII-2, and Lightning Returns: FFXIII were still absent. Microsoft confirmed those would appear in 2021. Which FFXII did in February 2021. However, we now also hit a point where other Final Fantasy games are starting to leave the service. In addition to FFIX’s upcoming removal, FFXV already left the service.

Here is the list of games joining Xbox Game Pass in May 2021. It includes another Square Enix RPG, Dragon Quest Builders 2.

  • May 4, 2021: Dragon Quest Builders 2 (console and PC)
  • May 6, 2021: FIFA 21 (console and PC), Outlast 2 (cloud, console and PC), and Steep (cloud and console)
  • May 13, 2021: Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster (console and PC), Psychonauts (cloud, console and PC), Red Dead Online (cloud and console) and Remnant: From the Ashes (PC)

Since the current list only reflects up until May 13, 2021, Microsoft will likely provide an additional update with more announcements later this month.
