Final Fantasy XIV’s patch 3.55b recently went live, bringing with it a revamped Diadem. The original Diadem exploratory missions released in patch 3.1, back in November of 2015. Now the new version of the area has brought with it lots of new changes.

First, players can access the Diadem by first having completed the “Heavensward” main scenario quest, and then by either entering via Free Company workshops or by speaking to the NPC Aurvael in the Pillars. Players who had unlocked the Diadem previously will not have to do so a second time.

There are two types of missions players can choose to embark on in the Diadem. Firstly, Trials of the Fury are designed for Disciples of War and Magic, while Trials of the Matron are suited for the gathering classes of Disciples of the Land.

Flying mounts are usable immediately upon entry into the Diadem, unlike its first iteration where finding a set number of aether currents was required before flight was possible.

By completing the party’s specific objectives and participating in FATEs whilst in the Diadem, players will receive lockboxes and other rewards. Additionally, fully completing your given objectives will grant access to gaps, which transport players to previously inaccessible areas of the map, where even more rewards await.

Another new addition to the revamped Diadem comes in the form of Emergency Missions. Emergency Missions have the ability to appear occasionally during exploratory missions, and all players present in the area are required to win the large-scale battle. Upon victory, highly-coveted items will be rewarded randomly to one player. However, players who fail to contribute to the battle will not have a chance to receive the reward.
