Final Fantasy XIV will be coming to mobile devices, and while some users may assume this version of the game will include gacha, it won’t. Final Fantasy XIV Producer Naoki Yoshida (or Yoshi-P) revealed in a video published on X (formerly known as Twitter) that players won’t need to worry about rolling for gear.

However, this doesn’t mean the mobile version of Final Fantasy XIV will be entirely free of microtransactions, only gacha. Yoshi-P did dive into monetization and did state that the goal for the game is for players to be able to enjoy it to it’s fullest without heavy monetization. That said, we’ve yet to see the structure Final Fantasy XIV mobile will adopt. This being potential battle passes, and so forth.
A potential release date has yet to be shared, though playtests will be held in China sometime in the future. After that, the game will release worldwide. More information will more than likely appear in the future, which includes when playtests could occur.
Final Fantasy XIV is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and FFXIV Mobile is in development for Android and Apple iOS devices.
