Final Fantasy XIV European Data Center Shadow Closing

In June 2024, Square Enix opened the Final Fantasy XIV European Data Center Shadow to prepare for the Dawntrail expansion, and now it announced the FFXIV Logical Data Center will be shut down. Its last day is August 27, 2024, but people will no longer be able to its four Worlds as of August 16, 2024.

In the announcement, Square Enix noted that the goal of this European Data Center was to help with congestion when the expansion launched. The worlds Innocence, Pixie, Titania, and Tycoon were all opened there. All four worlds did appear as Congested for periods following launch.

To prepare for the shutdown of the Shadow European Data Center, Final Fantasy XIV players were advised to use the various travel systems to head to their Home World. While the four worlds there will be open until August 27, 2024, Square Enix suggested people go back prior to that date. However, it also noted that when Innocence, Pixie, Titania, and Tycoon close, maintenance will be conducted and any players still there will be sent back to their Home Worlds during that process.

Europe wasn’t the only region that experienced World changes and additions ahead of Dawntrail. Square Enix also opened new Final Fantasy XIV Worlds in North America. Dynamis ended up getting Cuchulainn, Golem, Kraken, and Rafflesia.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the European Data Center Shadow and its four worlds will close on August 27, 2024.
