Final Fantasy XIII Director On The Future Of Final Fantasy

What’s next for the Final Fantasy series? Final Fantasy XIV, of course. But when it comes to the distant future Motomu Toriyama, Director of Final Fantasy XIII, shared his thoughts about the franchise.

"It [Final Fantasy] will continue to change for each product, but the ultimate technology will be pursued and it will remain a magnificent global story centered on human drama. That is why it is well received,” Toriyama said during his talk Final Fantasy XIII and Crystal Mythos talk at GDC. “This will be applied to every Final Fantasy story. I promise we will protect this trend."

 

Toriyama also discussed the possibility of interactive cutscenes instead of passive movies. Specifically, he mentioned jumping off the backs of a thousand flying dragons and thought the idea would be a lot of fun.
