While the public is waiting to get their hands on Final Fantasy XII at the Digital Life expo we have some new videos to show what the game plays like, this time in English!
Unlike other Final Fantasy games, everything in XII is done in real time. Monsters appear on the screen and there is no transition in to a separate battle screen. You control give orders to your party members or rely on pre-programmed Gambits to dictate how your characters fight. In this video all characters have their gambits set so you don’t even have to worry about controlling them.
Whether you’re equipping mythril armor or using blizzaga you’re going to need a license for it. The license system is how you acquire all skills and the ability to equip new weapons in the game. It is similar to the sphere grid where adjacent squares have related skills. There is a set area and progression for magic, which this video shows.
This is a look at Rabanastre, one of the massive towns in Final Fantasy XII. The towns are populated with tons of characters Bangaa and other Humes. There are also moogles that can teleport you to different areas of the town to ease travel time.
While you can use chocobos to get around, air cabs are a much faster way to hop from place to place.
Lastly, here is a quick panning video of the cast of Final Fantasy XII.
