Thinking about quitting Final Fantasy XI before starting Final Fantasy XIV? Square Enix has three bonuses for players that subscribe to both games.
The first is the item pictured on the right, Hermes’ Shoes. All Final Fantasy XI players out of the free trial period get this Final Fantasy XIV item when they enter Eorzea. We’re not sure what kind of bonus Hermes’ Shoes offer, aside from looking spiffy. Square Enix says they’re “with the lightest of leathers, making them optimal for use by heralds and noterunners.”
Final Fantasy XI subscribers can transfer their name to Final Fantasy XIV. Since Final Fantasy XI has multiple servers your Final Fantasy XIV character name won’t be exactly the same. Here’s an example:
– Final Fantasy XI character name: CloudStrife
– Final Fantasy XI world name: Bahamut
– Final Fantasy XIV character name: CloudStrife Bahamut
Your Final Fantasy XI character name is your Final Fantasy XIV first name and your Final Fantasy XI world name is your Final Fantasy XIV last name.
Finally, if you decide to keep your Final Fantasy XI account active, Square Enix will give you a $5.95 discount making the monthly fee for Final Fantasy XI $7.00. The promotion only applies to users that paid by credit card and you only get one discount per Final Fantasy XIV account. So, if you have two FFXIV accounts and three FFXI accounts you only get two discounts.
Final Fantasy XIV makes its debut next month on September 30. If you missed our impressions of Gridania and Ul’dah read them here.
