The official Final Fantasy VII Remake Twitter account recently provided insight into the process of creating the background music for the game. Square Enix shared additional details on the development of the song “Ignition Flame.” This is the Final Fantasy VII Remake track that plays during the Chapter 4 – Mad Dash boss fight with Roche.
Roche is a motorcycle-racing rebellious Shinra soldier who loves competing with Cloud as rivals. He made his debut in the remake. The track that plays during his boss fight was composed by Nobuo Uematsu, the man who has been responsible for composing music for the Final Fantasy series since the beginning. It was arranged by Naoyuki Honzawa, who has worked with Square Enix on the music for other Final Fantasy titles, including Final Fantasy XIII-2.
According to the information revealed in the tweet, the Final Fantasy VII Roche track is designed to feature a focus on speed as an overarching theme. With a high tempo, it focuses on recreating the rush experienced from the feeling of rapid movement. Rather than focusing on carrying a clear melody, the track prioritizes expressing Roche’s hasty characteristics. The percussion works to keep the song together. In the full version, the tune from the classic battle theme “Those Who Fight” is used in the middle of the song.
