Final Fantasy VII Remake Aerith Ending Line Changed in Patch

A new patch appeared for Final Fantasy VII Remake ahead of the launch of FFVII Rebirth, and people noticed a chance to a line Aerith says in the ending and Tifa’s outfit. It appears both are designed to better help the first game tie in with the second in the remake trilogy. [Thanks, Resetera!]

Editor’s Note: There will be spoilers for Final Fantasy VII Remake segments with Aerith and Tifa below.

First, the change to the outfit for Tifa has to do with a brief Nibelheim flashback Cloud experiences in Final Fantasy VII Remake. This video by DarkYamiThe3RD shows the difference between the two. The new version’s shirt is different and matches the one shown in early trailers and screenshots for FFVII Rebirth

As for the new Aerith ending line in Final Fantasy VII Remake, a single sentence is changed. In the original ending, she would say, “I miss it. The steel sky.” In the new ending, she says, “This sky… I don’t like it.”

Final Fantasy VII Remake is available on the PS4, PS5, and PC. FFVII Rebirth will come to the PS5 on February 29, 2024. Its demo is live now on the PlayStation Store. The game’s PS5 exclusivity arrangement expires on May 29, 2024.
