FFXVI PS5 Version Will Get FFV Brave Blade Too

Square Enix announced that the FFV Brave Blade replica heading to the PC version of FFXVI will also eventually appear on the PS5 as well. There’s no release date for it, however.

The FFV Brave Blade PS5 announcement appeared on the official Final Fantasy XVI social media account, and it also shared a first picture of the sword in the PC version of FFXVI. The sword features a red blade and hilt, with gold accents on the handle and pommel and a green gem on the cross guard. Here’s how it looks:

As a reminder, we get the Brave Blade as basically an early purchase bonus for FFXVI. It, a Cait Sith Charm accessory that boosts how much Gil Clive earns, and a “Sixteen Bells” Orchestrion Roll will all be given to all players who buy it before October 17, 2024. You do need to be connected to the internet to get them, however.

There’s no word when the PS5 version of FFXVI will get the weapon other than “a later date.” Square Enix also noted that the sword could be made available for PC players who don’t buy the game before October 17, 2024 as well.

The Brave Blade first appeared in FFV as a weapon for Bartz. It gets its name from the mechanic tied to it. The more often you run from battle, the weaker it gets. Other Final Fantasy games with Bartz also featured the hero wielding this as a signature weapon.

Final Fantasy XVI is available for the PlayStation 5, and it will come to PCs via the Epic Games Store and Steam on September 17, 2024.
