Don’t panic if you find yourself trapped in your own Home World in Final Fantasy XIV. The game is experiencing some issues following the patch 5.5 launch. As a result, Square Enix revealed the FFXIV World Visit System will be out of commission for several days while it fixes things. Each world will have to have maintenance done to fix it. Aegis, Carbuncle, and Odin are already fixed.
For people unaware of how the FFXIV World Visit System works, it’s a means of letting people interact with other players whose Home Worlds are on the same Data Center. So let’s say someone has their character on the Odin Home World on the Light Data Center. If you head to Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, or Ul’dah’s Aetheryte, then you can choose the “Visit Another World” option to go to Lich, Phoenix, Shiva, Twintania, or Zodiark.
The official sites for the game also went over what people who where visiting when this happened can expect. With the system, you essentially stay at the visiting world until you choose to go back to your Home World. You’ll temporarily be stuck on that other world until the issue is fixed.
Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PlayStation 4 and PC. Its PS5 open beta phase started April 13, 2021 and includes the free trial version.
