FFXIV Patch 5.55 and PS5 Official Service Arrive at the End of May

Big things are coming to Final Fantasy XIV at the end of May 2021. To be specific, both the FFXIV patch 5.55 update will arrive and PS5 official service will begin on May 25, 2021. This will bring new quests, like an epilogue for the NieR: Automata-inspired YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse. The announcement also offered a reminder about new features in the PS5 version. Everything came up during the May 2021 Fan Fest’s Letter from the Producer LIVE Part LXIV.

First, some of the FFXIV patch 5.55 details came up. YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse isn’t the only questline with new parts. Death Unto Dawn will get a second part and Save the Queen will get an update. Those playing Triple Triad at the Gold Saucer will have a new goal. If you get every card, you get an unspecified reward.

As for the FFXIV PS5 official service, there was more of a reminder. People already playing the open beta might have noticed things like the improved UI, ability to play in 4K, and load times. The update here reminded people that there will be new trophies to earn, haptic feedback, and 3D audio too.

Final Fantasy XIV is available on the PlayStation 4 and PC. The PlayStation 5 version is in an open beta phase, with official service beginning on May 25, 2021. FFXIV patch 5.55 will arrive for all versions on May 25, 2021 as well. The Endwalker expansion will appear on November 23, 2021.
