Square Enix opened sales for a FFXIV Coin Collection set of gil coins that people can buy worldwide. They cost $36.99 in the US storefront and are expected to launch in February 2025, and the 3,960円 set will come to Japan on November 23, 2024.
The collection features four coins based on the gil found in FFXIV in a decorative box. They are made of zinc alloy and designed to be the same size as actual coins. The first coin on the left is the standard 100 gil used everywhere in-game. Square Enix noted it has Nymeia on it. The other three are Foundation Day “commemorative” coins. So the Limsa Lominsa one has Merlwyb on the face and the obsidian longboat on the back. The Ul’dah has the golden scales on the back. The Gridania one has the Elder Seedseer on the face and flag’s lily and snakes on the back.
All of the replicas first appeared at the 2019 Fan Festival held in Europe. This marks the first time Square Enix is putting the FFXIV gil up for sale again. Here’s a gallery of the three images Square Enix shared with us to show how thegil coins would look in real life.
Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The FFXIV Coin Collection will come to Japan on November 23, 2024, followed by a US release in February 2025.
