FFVII Remake Update Lets You Fast-Forward Cutscenes, Get a Head Start

There’s a new patch for FFVII Remake, Square Enix said it allows people to opt for a “Head Start” to make it easier to enjoy the story or skip cutscenes or fast-forward through cutscenes. This updates both to the main game and Yuffie Episode INTERmission DLC storyline. However, the new features are only available for the PS5 and PC.

In the case of the skip feature in Final Fantasy VII Remake, you can use this fast-forward feature at any of the cutscenes in the game. There are also two options. You can go through them at 1.5 speed. Or, if you’re familiar with what’s going on, you can go through them twice as quickly.

The Head Start option for FFVII Remake is a little more limited. You need to select “New Game – Head Start” when you either begin the main story with Cloud or Episode INTERmission to see Yuffie and Sonon’s adventure. When you do, you’ll find that every person is at level 45 once you gain access to them as a playable character. So Cloud will be at level 45 right away, and Yuffie and Sonon will in that campaign as well. They’ll also have SP equivalent to that, so you can build up their movesets. In addition, there will be other items and bonuses waiting for you to make progressing easier. So you’ll have 50,000 gil to spend in stores, some maxed out Materia, a selection of items, and some gear and accessories.

This is the most recent update for FFVII Remake to appear for a while. Most of Square Enix’s recent reveals had to deal with its development. For example, it showed what Cloud’s Wall Market dress concept art looked like and talked about Roche’s design.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is available on the PS4, PS5, and PC. The FFVII Remake update with Head Start and fast-forward features is live on the PS5 and PC now. FFVII Rebirth is on the PS5 now, with the PC version debuting on January 23, 2025. The third entry in the trilogy is in development.
