A-1 Pictures is producing the Fate/strange Fake: Whispers of Dawn OVA, with Shun Enokido and Takahito Sakazume as the directors. A-1 also produced the anime adaptation of Fate/Apocrypha. Enokido and Sakazume previously worked on Fate/Apocrypha as animation directors. Daisuki Ohigashi (Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045) will write the script while Hiroyuki Sawano (Promare) will compose the music.

As for the cast, we know the actors for the main four characters. Tomokazu Seki, Yu Kobayashi, David Vincent, and Marin Miller will reprise their roles from past Fate entries. Here’s a list of the confirmed Japanese voice cast.

  • Ayaka Saijo: Kana Hanazawa (Nadeko Sengoku in Bakemonogatari)
  • Saber: Yuki Ono (Taiga Kagami Kuroko no Basket)
  • Archer: Tomokazu Seki (Archer in Fate/Zero)
  • Lancer: Yu Kobayashi (Enkidu in Fate/Grand Order: Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia)

And here’s a list of the confirmed English voice cast.

Author Ryohgo Narito originally conceived Fate/strange Fake as an April Fool’s joke in 2008, which was then adapted into a short story published in Type-Moon Ace 2 magazine in 2009. In 2015 it was further adapted into an ongoing novel series, with illustrations by Shidzuki Morii. It takes place in the city of Snowfield, Nevada, where mages from the United States attempt to conduct a ritual based on the Third Holy Grail War in Fuyuki. However, they failed to recreate it, leading to the summoning of “False Servants” and the creation of “False Masters”.

Fate/strange Fake: Whispers of Dawn will air on December 31, 2022. Aniplex of America has licensed it for Western release.
