Fate/stay night is finally available in English, and the remastered version is also remastering the true experience of playing the game back in 2004. The English version had an issue in which the game won’t work correctly unless you first set your computer locale to Japanese, but Version 1.1.128 has fixed it.
Issues in the English version of the game first became known shortly after its release. X (formerly known as Twitter) user “zzzzviktor” reported that character sprites wouldn’t match the speaker, backgrounds are wrong, and voice lines don’t match with the text. Another X user, “Chaos_World_300,” QRT-ed this post to state that everything works fine when on Japanese locale. However, when she switched to English, the game started to break. This means that if you wanted to enjoy Fate/stay night Remastered on Steam, you needed to switch your computer locale to Japanese, or use a locale emulator.
The official Steam page for the game acknowledged this error. However, a few hours later, a follow-up post stated that the issue has been corrected in the latest patch, Version 1.1.128. Players should update their game if they want to experience the story as the developers truly intended it. As a note, the Nintendo Switch version also patched the issue out earlier on August 7, 2024.
For the first time since in 20 years, the official English version of Fate/stay night is available on the Windows PC and Nintendo Switch.
