After canning the game because of a lack of interest, Square-Enix sold the rights to Fantasy Earth: Zero to Gamepot. While it still hasn’t ascended to the top of the MMO ladder, Square-Enix is giving it another shot. Square-Enix China is going to localize Fantasy Earth: Zero with simplified characters and launch it again. I thought I never would hear anything about Fantasy Earth: Zero after I was sold, but it hasn’t completely dropped off of Square-Enix’s radar screen. Concerto Gate, Square-Enix’s latest MMO, is also coming to China at a later date. Seeing these games appear outside of Japan doesn’t mean America is going to ever get them. We never saw Front Mission Online and it took many years before Final Fantasy XI got localized. However, Concerto Gate looks interesting and I hope we get to try that out someday.
