Everything We Know About The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Now

June 2024’s Nintendo Direct showcased lots of games, including the newest addition to The Legend of Zelda series, which is The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. Set to release on September 26, 2024, it’s the first Legend of Zelda game to have Zelda as our sole protagonist and will feature lots of problem-solving mechanics. Here is everything we know about the game so far.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom stars Zelda as a playable character

For the first time ever, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a mainline game that features Zelda as the game’s only protagonist. She is on a quest to save Link after he falls into one of the many rifts which begin appearing throughout Hyrule. After meeting a fairy named Tri, which can turn into a weapon called the Tri Staff, Zelda sets out on an adventure to save Link and her kingdom.

The game takes inspiration from older The Legend of Zelda games as well as Switch games like Tunic, with chibi character designs and a top-down perspective. Most notably, the title features the exact same art direction as The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake, which appeared on the Switch in 2019.

It seems like The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will rely a lot on problem solving to make Zelda’s way through the story. The game has a mechanic which lets players solve problems and obstacles by using the Tri Staff to create duplicates (called echoes) of objects, which you can then place around the world. You can even make echoes of the enemies you encounter on your journey and use their powers to your advantage.

Some fans are speculating that the game might have connections to past games such as Link to the Past and Oracle of Seasons, but nothing official has been released yet to confirm or deny this. Given the artistic direction, it is also possible there could be ties to Link’s Awakening.

Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Hyrule Edition Switch Lite

Nintendo announced the release of a Switch Lite based on the Legend of Zelda games at the end of the June 2024 Nintendo Direct announcement. This version of the Switch Lite comes in gold and has various designs and motifs from the games. It will be released simultaneously alongside the new game on September 26, 2024.
