Nintendo fans in regions outside of Japan don’t need to be envious of the Minna no Nintendo Channel much longer. The Minna no Nintendo Channel (Everybody’s Nintendo) channel is coming to North America and Europe in May. The Japanese version showcases trailers and occasionally footage with first party game developers explaining their titles. Other features include a database of games with release dates for the Wii, Nintendo DS and (legacy systems) like the NES and Nintendo DS downloads.
However, it should be noted that Nintendo of Japan hasn’t been updating the DS download section much. While we’ve been showcasing some of the student games, the original list of Touch Generations demos like Cooking Navi, Brain Age 2 and Flash Focus haven’t been rotated. Actually, the items on the original list have been fixed on the Nintendo DS download section since launch.
New game downloads, usually a single game, come about once a week. Right now a demo of Magnetica (Shunkan Puzz Loop) is on there, probably because Minna no Puzz Loop is now available on WiiWare. Nintendo doesn’t have as many Touch Generation titles in other regions so hopefully there will be more playable DS games on the North American/European versions.
North America will have a feature on the Nintendo Channel currently not found in Japan. Wired revealed users will be able to review WiiWare games after playing them for at least an hour. Typing with the Wii is sort of a pain so I wouldn’t expect long reviews, but some opinions are better than none.
