End of May Virtual Console outlook: Where are Super Mario 2 and F-Zero X

European Wii owners missed out on getting Streets of Rage 2 this week. Instead they got Mach Rider, a futuristic motorcycle driving game from Nintendo and Super Mario Brothers 2 today. I’m not talking about the Super Mario Brothers 2 from the Famicom Disc System, Europe got the sprite swapped version of Doki Doki Panic where you battle Wart with Mario.

In Japan the final five games on the May virtual console update should be coming out. That includes F-Zero X, Bonk 3 and Shining in the Darkness. Recently Shining in the Darkness snagged an ESRB rating so a US release is nearly guaranteed. Actually, a release for all of these titles is likely (inevitable?) for North America, it’s just a matter of time until we get a chance to download Super Mario Brothers 2. Maybe it will come out Monday with F-Zero X or Mach Rider.

Europe (Friday):

Mach Rider – NES

Super Mario Brothers 2 (Super Mario USA) – NES

Blazing Lasers – TG16

North America (Monday):

TBD

Japan (Tuesday):

F-Zero X – Nintendo 64

Shining in the Darkness – Mega Drive

Hybrid Front – Mega Drive

PC Genjin 3 (Bonk 3: Bonk’s Big Adventure) – TG16

Battle Lode Runner – TG16
