More Earth Defense Force games have been released in Europe than North America. Before D3 Publisher localized Earth Defense Force 2017 for Xbox 360, 505 Games localized the PlayStation 2 games under the name Global Defense Force. Bandai Namco Europe distributed all of D3 Publisher’s titles including Earth Defense Force after acquiring the developer.

Xseed is now localizing Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair for PlayStation 4 and Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders from Planet Space for PlayStation Vita. Pqube announced they will publish both of these bug blasting games in Europe in Q4 2015.

Earth Defense Force 4.1 is an enhanced version of Earth Defense Force 2025 with a new battle with a Godzilla-like monster and a spider tank. Earth Defense Force 2 for Vita adds the Air Raider class from Earth Defense Force 2025 and has online co-op for four players.
