Shortly after revealing Dynasty Warriors: Origins at the May 2024 State of Play, Koei Tecmo confirmed that the game will also be available on the Xbox Series X and PC via Steam in addition to the PlayStation 5. However, it turns out that the series’ longtime producer Akihiro Suzuki is not leading the game’s development. The company revealed that Tomohiko Sho, who is also the current head of the Omega Force brand studio, is the producer of Dynasty Warriors: Origins.
Tomohiko Sho had been involved in the Dynasty Warriors franchise since the original fighting game came out on PlayStation in 1997. He was also involved in Dynasty Warriors 2 through 5, mostly as a planner.
The highest position Sho managed to achieve in the series before Origins was as the director in Dynasty Warriors 6 and the PS Vita entry NEXT. In more recent years, he worked as the producer for Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate in 2019, Touken Ranbu Warriors in 2022, and Fate/Samurai Remnant in 2023.
The new producer appointment, along with a new logo change for Omega-Force, show a drastic change in the brand studio’s organizational structure in the development of Dynasty Warriors: Origins. Akihiro Suzuki has been regularly assuming the producer spot for the mainline numbered entries, including Dynasty Warriors 9 and its Empires spin-off. However, in recent months, the producer has been shifting his focus towards the mobile game that has been running in Japan since 2021.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in 2025.
