The Title system appeared in Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires. The player could obtain titles by doing activities like completing missions, winning battles, and using stratagems. Each title came with a stat boost for their character. The titles would also determine the character’s personalities when they appear in another playthrough as an NPC.

In Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires, there will be 30 standard titles, and a unique title for each of the 94 unique characters. The player can use a title they unlocked in prior playthroughs for a custom character in the Edit Mode.

The Dynasty Warriors Japanese Twitter account has been publishing details about the upcoming game in daily Q&A sessions. It has revealed more features returning from prior games, such as 850 custom character slots like in DW8: Empires, unique quotes and death scenes of sworn siblings and married spouses from DW7: Empires, and all DLC weapons from Dynasty Warriors 9 getting included in game. The account will continue publishing new information daily until November 14, 2021.

Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires will be available on the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Koei Tecmo will release the game in Japan and Asia on December 23, 2021, and North America and Europe on February 15, 2022.
